2. Firefighter song using hand motions to introduce topics and learn vocabulary.
3. Fast Match vocabulary game can be played with two or more players. The first player or team puts down the words in any order, while the second player or team covers their eyes. Then the second player or team puts down the corresponding picture cards as quickly as possible. See if players/teams can beat their own time. See if which player/team has the fastest time.

For the Past-Tense game, students put the verb they land on in the past-tense. For a challenge, students may be required to use the verb in a sentence.
For the Make a Sentence game, students use the verb as is in a sentence.
5. Make the smokejumper: Students read the informational paragraph about smokejumpers, then use the graphic organizer to glean details about smokejumpers. Students then write those details into a paragraph on the backpack page. Cut out smokejumper and glue onto one side of a lunch sack; cut and glue the backpack onto the other side of the sack. Attach two straws and a coffee filter (with tape or glue) to make a parachute!
